Bead My Skull Cap

The Bead My Skull Cap
This hat was created because I love putting pictures into my knitting and my favorite way to do it besides mosaic knitting is with beads. I used a light pink yarn so that it had a touch of girly flair to it. Since I have made it my fiancee Randy has demanded one in black and white. It is very simple to knit. And very fast. As always knit it for yourself or for a gift but do not sell them. If you would like to share the pattern please share the link and not the pattern itself. Enjoy!
Supplies:
Worsted Weight Yarn ( I used Woolease)
Size 8 11" or 16" circulars (you'll also want dpn's to switch to as you get low on stitches)
170 Smaller Size Black Pony Beads
Size 1 steel crochet hook (Or whatever size you can use to pull the yarn through the beads)
1 Stitch Marker (Place to mark begining/end of row.)
Yarn Needle
Important Note: I will now attempt to describe how to put the beads into your knitting. You put the bead on the hook end of your crochet hook. When you get to the stitch the bead goes on you grab the stitch with the crochet hook, take it off the needle, slide the bead from the crochet hook down onto the stitch and transfer the stitch back onto the left needle. When you have done this you will need to knit this stitch to secure the bead. The abbreviation for this action will be (BS) Beaded Stitch. A number in front will indicate the number of these to do in a row.

Thanks. The stores generally have regular size pony beads then smaller ones. I used the smaller ones. I wish I knew some kind of sizing standard or something. Good luck

Yes what I mean by that is straight knitting after the pattern rows. This will increase the length of your hat and prevent the skull from being on top of the hat if that makes any sense. It's just plain knitting to fill in space between skull and decreases

Kody; thank you so much for sharing your skull cap pattern! I just finished one, but instead of using black pony beads (not available where I'm at) I used small glow in the dark pony beads. Kinda spooky effect! I made this as a gift for my daughter - I know it will be a big hit - thanks!

You can also string all the beads you'll need (plus extra, if you're nervous) onto the yarn before you even start. They'll keep sliding down as you work, then you can just slide one up when you're ready for it. Extra beads come off when you're done and you cut your hat-string from your skein of yarn.

I loved making this hat! It went by so quick, which I love since I'm not the quickest knitter. I've already cast on for another with different colour beads for my son!

I love your patterns. I have made several of your skull hats for my son which are loads of fun. I'm sending your site to all my knitting buddies.

I am no computer expert. How can I print your patterns when they are in white on black. I love everyone I have looked at so far. However, I need to have the pattern with me.

Dear Kody,

Tried to learn to circular needles to no avail! started doing it on str8 needles an will worry bout sewin it later. Can i safely assume the is a row of pearl stitches in between the bead rows? P.S Thanks for the easy patterns that are realistic!

You are aware that copyright does not give you the right to restrict what anyone does with the final product, correct? You have the right to enforce your copyright - as to the pattern itself. Any items created from using the pattern are the sole property of that item's owner and can be disposed of in any manner they wish. If someone makes, say mittens, from a pattern, then piles those mittens in a bucket and sets them on fire; it would be weird, but all right to do. If that same person SELLS the mittens they made, that's completely all right, too.

Copyright only affords you limited rights over the PATTERN. I can print your pattern out, make a paper airplane, or make a hat. The information in the pattern remains yours, the hat, however, is mine to do with it what I will.
