Mythological Man Hat Pattern

Mythological Man Hat Pattern
Not much to say about this one other than I liked the concept! It's knit back and forth not in the round. And it is a slip stitch pattern so you only work with one color per row. Make one for yourself or a friend. Do not sell these. If you want to share the pattern share the link and not the pattern itself.

Supplies:

  • Worsted Weight Yarn (I used Red Heart In Blue and Orange) Background will be color A, Mythological men will be color B.
  • Size 8 Knitting Needles
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Stitch Markers

To Make this Hat:

Cast on 84 stitches in Color A, and do an inch or so of K1, P1 ribbing. On last row of K1, P1 ribbing place a marker every 14 stitches to help you keep track of repeats.

NOTE: WHEN YOU SLIP THE YARN ON ODD ROWS SLIP WITH YARN IN BACK ON EVEN ROWS SLIP WITH YARN IN FRONT!!!!

Row 48:) With Color A- *Slip 1, K11, Slip 2* repeat from * to *.

At this point you may continue back at row 1 until you get your desired length or begin decreases. I made this for my fiancee so I only had to do rows 1-48 once, you may stop at any time and begin the decrease rows if you decide to continue. As you complete the decrease rows you will want to again alternate colors every 2 rows.

DR1:)*K19, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

DR2:) *K8, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

DR3:) *K7, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

DR4:) *K6, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

DR5:) *K5, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

DR6:) *K4, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

DR7:) *K3, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

DR8:) *K2, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

DR9:) *K1, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

DR10:) K2tog across.

Cut Yarn leaving a long enough tail to sew up seam. Thread it through the remaining stitches and pull tight then sew up side seam. Enjoy!

Just had to tell you how much I love your patterns. Going to make this one for sure not sure who I will give it to. I love knitting things and surprising people with them. Knitting is my life I have been knitting for 47 years.

Cute hat! I just finished knitting one last night and my sons are fighting over it.

Thanks for sharing this great pattern!
I've made a hat now, but it's a gift and I won't share it on my blog just yet...
Also, there may be a possible error on row 26, I think it should read *Slip 1,

Thanks again and keep knitting!
Best,

Quick questions: 1.)do you continue to work the established pattern while decreasing...or do you just knit 2 rows in color A while decreasing, and knit 2 colors in B while continuing to decrease... 2.) does the pattern read correctly as DR1-knit 19 then decrease accordingly and then on DR2- knit 8?

Thank you so much!

I am needing a hat RIGHT NOW for a son who hates his haircut, and this one is perfect.

You rock!

I just finished this hat and its my favourite was fun to knit- it came out great, especially I love the decrease pattern at the top. Just made it for my husband in the last of my black & grey wool and he's wearing it now. Thanks for all your great patterns!
