Hindu Aum (Om) Flat Knitted Hat Pattern

Hindu Aum (Om) Flat Knitted Hat:

Many people have heard of "Om" as it is common in prayers or mantras, quite often used in yoga. In Hindu it is a symbol of the absolute. Not god but an omnipotent omnipresent force in the universe. The source of all things. Often after a child is born the child is cleansed and the "Om" symbol is written on their tongue with honey. It makes for a neat looking hat and I thought I would share a little background because if you think it looks as neat as I do and decide to make one, you should probably know what it stands for. As always knit one for yourself or as a gift but do not sell them. If you share the pattern please share think link and not the pattern itself. There are two versions of this hat to please everyone. There is a flat knitted version (this one) and an in the round version (see side bar containing patterns). Thanks so much and Happy Knitting!

Wow...Im so happy to have found this pattern. Im new to your website and I have only been knitting for about 1 year & half but I love all of your creations especially this one. I'm fascinated with the Indian culture you're the only person on the net I have seen so far to combine the two so fabulously, Congrats. ;)

I've loved all of your patterns and when I searched for a pattern for an OM hat I was pleased to see that you've made one! Thanks for sharing! One questions though: What is the gauge for this project? I almost never match the required gauge to a pattern even with the suggested yarn weight and needles so it takes me a few tries with different needle sizes usually.

I love this hat pattern-- could you possibly condense it so I can just knit the hat without the symbol? Yours is the best looking flat knit hat I've seen, and you do a good job explaining how to knit it together at the end.

Thank you! You have some great patterns!
