In Memory Of Clara Hat
I can't seem to get any photos to do this hat justice. The lace pattern in so pretty, and the bobbles look really neat. It's a pretty easy lace stitch. I made this hat in memory of my grandmother, Clara. It doesn't take very long to make at all.

Supplies:

Light worsted weight yarn (I used Knitpicks Wool of the Andes- 1 Skein)

Size 8 Straight Knitting Needles

Darning Needle

Pattern:

NOTE: (MB) Indicates make bobble as follows- (K1, yo, K1, yo, K1) in same stitch, turn and P5, turn and K5, turn and P5, turn and ssk, K1, K2tog, turn and P3tog, turn and with yarn in back sl bobble st onto right hand needle.

Cast On 81 stitches and work 2 rows K1, P1 ribbing. (This is just to keep the edge from curling.

P(attern) Row1: P1, *yo, ssk, P5, K2tog, yo, P1* rep from * to * across row

PR2: K1, *K1, P1, K5, P1, K2* rep from * to * across row

PR3: P1, *P1, yo, ssk, P3, K2tog, yo, P2* rep from * to * across row

PR4: K1, *K2, P1, K3, P1, K3* rep from * to * across row

PR5: P1, *P2, yo, ssk, P1, K2tog, yo, P3* rep from * to * across row

PR6: K1, *K3, P1, K1, P1, K4* rep from * to * across row

PR7: P1, *P3, yo, slip 2 knitwise-K1-p2sso, yo, P3, MB* rep from * to * across row ending P4.

PR8: K1, *K3, P3, K3, P1-b into bobble st.* rep from * to * across row ending K4

PR9: P1, *P2, K2tog, yo, P1, yo, ssk, P3* rep from * to * across row

PR10: K1, *K2, P1, K3, P1, K3* rep from * to * across row

PR11: P1, *P1, K2tog, yo, P3, yo, ssk, P2* rep from * to * across row

PR12: K1, *K1, P1, K5, P1, K2* rep from * to * across row

PR13: P1, *K2tog, yo, P5, yo, ssk, P1* rep from * to * across row

PR14: K1, *P1, K7, P1, K1* rep from * to * across row

PR15: K2tog, * yo, P3, MB, P3, yo, slip 2 knitwise-K1-p2sso* rep from * to * across row ending yo, P3, MB, P2, yo, ssk

PR16: P1, *P1, K3, P1-b into bobble stitch, K3, P2* rep from * to * across row

Repeat rows 1-16 once more for a total of 2 times

Begin Decrease Rows:
D(ecrease) Row 1: K2tog, K7, K2tog *K8, K2tog* rep from * to * across row
DecR2: *P7, P2tog* rep from * to * across row
DecR3: *K6, K2tog* rep from * to * across row
DecR4: *P5, P2tog* rep from * to * across row
DecR5: *K4, K2tog* rep from * to * across row
DecR6: *P3, P2tog* rep from * to * across row
DecR7: *K2, K2tog* rep from * to * across row
DecR8: *P1, P2tog* rep from * to * across row
DecR9: K2tog across row

Slip all stitches to the opposite needle. Cut yarn leaving long tail to sew seam and thread onto darning needle. Slip stitches one at a time off knitting needle and onto yarn tail, and draw tight. Secure on the inside then sew up the seam, and weave in ends. Enjoy your new hat!

My grandmother's name was Clara, and her favorite color was purple. Thanks for a beautiful pattern that helps me remember MY Clara!
