Soaring Eagles Hat Pattern (Garter Stitch Version)

Soaring Eagles Hat Pattern (Garter Stitch Version)
My fiance loves eagles for some reason. So I wanted to make him a nice hat with an eagle on it since I forbid him from getting anymore tattoos for the time being. The hat looks much more complicated to make than it really is. It is done using slip stitches so you only have to worry about using one color per row. The end result is rather neat if you ask me! So go ahead and make one for yourself, for a friend, or for charity. You cannot sell these and if you must share the pattern share the link and not the pattern itself. I did create two different version of this hat. One is a Garter Stitch design the other is stockinette stitch! Enjoy! Happy Knitting!

Supplies:
Worsted Weight Yarn in 2 different colors (I used Woolease in black and grey). The Color of the Eagle will be color A, The background color will be color B.
Size 8 Straight knitting needles (you can do it on circs back and forth if you wish)
Stitch Markers
Tapestry Needle
IMPORTANT NOTE: ON ALL ODD NUMBERED ROWS SLIP WITH YARN IN BACK. ON ALL EVEN NUMBERED ROWS SLIP WITH YARN IN FRONT!
To Make This Hat:
With Color A, Cast on 88 stitches and do an inch or so in K1, P1 ribbing. On last row work 22 sts, place a marker, work 22 stitches, place a marker, work 22 stitches, place a marker, work 22 stitches. This will make it easier if you lose your place in the repeats.

Slip all stitches to opposite needle. Cut yarn leaving a long enough tail to sew up the seam. Thread through tapesty needle. One at a time thread stitches onto the tapestry needle and off of the knitting needle. When all stitches have been transferred pull up tight. Secure then sew up side seam. Weave in ends and enjoy.

Fantastic pattern, thanks so much! I'm made it for my sister, she loves it.

Just a note I think there's a mistake on row 31, the stitches add up to 24 not 22. I worked out what it should be by reversing the instruction for row 32 but you might want to fix this up for the next person.

Thanks again! I love your site :)

Lovely patterns! I'm going to try working with two colors for the first time but info on technique is limited on the internet. Any possibility of you offering a little "how to use two colors" for the knitting newbies?

Dear Kody, I just love your method of using two yarns without having to twist them and carry them along when not needed. What is this method called? It is a little like illusion knitting which I love to do. I have made 2 of your eagle hats, the greeky hat and the beaded headband. I hope to see some more patterns on your blog soon. You are very talented! Sincerely, Carrly
