Bangled Hat Pattern

Bangled Hat Pattern
I found these awesome bangle things thinking I would make a purse. I came home they sat in a drawer then I decided to make a hat out of them! The bangle line up in a neat diagonal pattern. I strung them in alternating color and to keep the pattern going if one wasn't the right color for the sequence at the beginning of the row I just snipped it out. I am not sure how many I used but it was less than half of the small bag I purchased at Walmart.

Supplies:

  • Bangle type sequins
  • Size 8 11" or 16" circular needle
  • Worsted weight yarn (I used woolease)
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Stitch marker to mark beginning of round.

NOTE: SB- Slide Bangle Down to Stitch then K1 to lock bangle in place.

To Make this Hat:

Cast on 80 stitches (Join in the round) and do 1-1.5" of K1, P1 ribbing, Then knit one row.

Row 1: *K9, SB* repeat from * to *.

Row 2: Knit

Row 3: Knit

Row 4: Knit

Row 5: Knit

Row 6: K4 *SB, K9* repeat from * to* ending SB, K4.

Row 7: Knit

Row 8: Knit

Row 9: Knit

Row 10: Knit

Repeat rows 1-10 until hat is desired length then begin the decrease rows:

DRow 1: *K8, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

DRow 2: *K7, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

DRow 3: *K6, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

DRow4: *K5, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

DRow5: *K4, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

DRow6: *K3, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

DRow7: *K2, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

DRow8: *K1, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

DRow9: K2tog across row.

Cut yarn and thread through tapestry needle. Run through remaining stitches and pull up tight. Secure and weave in ends. You can make one for yourself or for a friend but do not sell them and please share the link and not the pattern itself. Enjoy!

Very cute!

I meant to say some time ago that I enjoy your quick little patterns. I know they're not for sale, but I was wondering if I could make some to be donated for a raffle or for sale at fundraisers (International Cesarean Awareness Network raffle and Holistic Moms, respectively).

I love it! I have some of those bangles and didn't know what to do with them. :)

I love your pattern and have every intention of trying it out. I have just the right bangles that I picked up at the local dollar store.
Before even beginning, I noticed that the only thing that this pattern does not say is that the bangles should be inserted on the work BEFORE one starts knitting... I think.
You say to "slide down" the bangle in place before you knit one to lock it in place.
A long time ago, I had seen a pattern involving knitting with beads and was wondering how it was done. Then, looking elsewhere on the Net, I found another pattern which had a special note to string the beads onto the yard BEFORE beginning knitting.
Anyway, will let you know how mine turns out.
Again, thanks!
