Sleepless Nights Hat Pattern

Sleepless Nights Hat Pattern
This pattern can be worked up very quickly and helped me hide the fact that my hair was a mess since I couldn't fall asleep the night before. The lace is simple and easy to work. the lines of the hat are gorgeous and would be even crisper if worked in an acrylic or non single ply yarn. Look your best even when you feel like a zombie.

Supplies:

  • Worsted Weight Yarn (I used Patons Soy Wool Stripes
  • Size 8 circulars and/or dpns
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker to indicate beginning/end of row

Tip: If you are new to lace you may want to put stitch markers between each repeat or weave a cord in every few rows so that if you make and error you can frog it back to the cord and not lose all your progress.

Cast on 81 stitches and Join in the round

Do 1/2" to 1" of K1 P1 ribbing. (You will both begin and end with a K1 but this isn't noticeable. If you prefer you can cast on 80 stitches increasing one stitch on the first pattern row)

Row 1: Knit

Row 2: K1, *(yo, ssk)x2, K1, (K2tog, yo)x2, K1* repeat from * to *.

Row 3: Knit

Row 4: K2 *yo, ssk, yo, (Slip 2 Knitwise, K1, Pass the two slipped stitches over the K1 as if binding off), yo, K2tog, yo, K3* repeat from * to * ending the last repeat with K2 instead of K3.

Repeat these four rows until hat is desired length. Begin decrease rows.

Dec Row 1: K2tog, K7, K2tog, *K8, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

Dec Row 2: *K7, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

Dec Row 3: *K6, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

Dec Row 4: *K5, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

Dec Row 5: *K4, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

Dec Row 6: *K3, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

Dec Row 7: *K2, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

Dec Row 8: *K1, K2tog* repeat from * to *.

Dec Row 9: K2tog across

Cut yarn leaving long enough tail to thread through the remaining stitches and pull up tight. Weave in all ends. Enjoy

All I Want For Christmas Is You Hat Pattern

All I Want For Christmas Is You Hat Pattern

This hat is so simple to knit! A very simple series of eyelets runs up the hat so if you wanted you could weave ribbon up the hat. At the end you form a christmas bow with I-Cord. Give the gift of yourself all wrapped up this Christmas or give this hat to someone to let them know just being with them is a gift.

I knit this hat,

Topped with a bow,

This Holiday Season,

To Let you Know,

Nothing else will do,

The best gift I could recieve,

Is simply time with you.

Supplies:

Worsted Weight Yarn (I used Bernat self striping Christmas Cotton)

Size 8 circular and/or dpns

Tapestry needle

Stitch Marker

To Begin:

Cast on 80 (90) stitches but do not join

Work back and forth in Garter Stitch for a Few rows until you get an edge the length you desire, then join and place marker.

Row 1: *Yo, K2tog, K8* repeat from * to * across row.

Row 2: Knit all stitches

Repeat these two rows until hat is desired length, ending after a row 2. Then continue to decrease rows.

Dec R1: *Yo, K2tog, K6, K2tog* repeat from * to * across.

Dec R2: *K7, K2tog* repeat from * to * across.

Dec R3: *Yo, K2tog, K4, K2tog* repeat from * to * across.

Dec R4: *K5, K2tog* repeat from * to * across.

Dec R5: *Yo, K2tog, K2, K2tog* repeat from * to * across.

Dec R6: *K3, K2tog* repeat from * to * across.

Dec R7: *Yo, (K2tog)Twice* repeat from * to * across.

Dec R8: *K1, K2tog* repeat from * to * across.

Dec R9: K2tog across

Decrease down until you have four or five stitches left and proceed in I-Cord. I believe my I-Cord was about a foot and a half. But I would reccomend stopping every once in a while to form it into a bow to see how big you want your loops how many you need to look full etc. stopping the I-Cord when you are satisfied. When done bind off and use tapestry needle to tack stitches in bow shape. If making large loops you may want to put some floral wire in the I-Cord to help make it shapeable. Weave in your ends and enjoy!

Angel Skull Hat Pattern

A Million Thanks to Jenny Woll who provided the pictures for this hat!

Angel Skull Hat Pattern
I always have had an affinity for anything with wings, and I'm always wearing skulls so this hat combines my loves. This hat can have two different looks. It can be knitted in two tone with the main color and the opposing color making up the skull and wings, or you can knit it in 3-4 colors, one for the background, black, a color to fill in skull (most likely white) and a color to fill in wings. The instructions will be written for the four color version, which you can easily knit as the two color version by using the background color for all stitches not indicated with a B for Black which is the outline of the image. Of course Black does not have to be used for B any color can be substituted.

2-4 colors of worsted weight yarn
Size 8 circular knitting needles
3 stitch markers (2 of one color, and one of another)

Cast on 88 stitches and join in the round with the stitch marker you only have one color of to indicated beginning/end of the row.

Do as much K1, P1 ribbing as you desire.

Knit for 5 rows
Next Row K25, PM, K39, PM, K24

NOTE: For the following rows it is assumed that you will knit in the main color to the stitch markers then follow the row instructions to the second stitch marker and continue knitting in the main color. Because this hat is done in the round in stockinette stitch all stitches are knit. Color indications are as follows M is the Main or Background color, B is Black or any other outline color, W is the inner wing color, S is the inner skull color.

Begin Pattern rows:
1) M6, B4, M6, B7, M7, B3, M6

Generic Hat Pattern for Charts Flat Top

This generic pattern is for use with the charts on my website. It will be a square hat. For added flare you can attach pom poms or tassels to the corner of the hat. It is designed to be knit with worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles. Can be knit flat or round from directions. Two sizes provided adult small and large

Cast on 80 (88) stitches

Do desired length of K1, P1 ribbing.

Do 3-5 rows stockinette stitch, on last row place stitch markers to work the chart in between. For a flat topped hat it is important to center the chart on both flat knitted hat and round knitted hats as you can do three needle bind off in the round if the chart is centered.

Work Chart

Continue in Stockinette for desired length. You can now do regular bind off, in the round you can also do three needle bind off. and if you would like to do three needle bind off knitting flat you will need to rearrange your stitches to do so.

If you did not do three needle bind off be sure to center image and sew top seam.

If hat was knit flat sew up back seam.

Enjoy!!

Generic Hat Pattern For Charts Rounded Top

This is a generic pattern for use with the charts provided on my site. Both sizes are for adults. One for the slightly smaller closer fitting, and one for larger noggins. They are designed to be knit with worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles. Instructions given for both circular and flat knitting.

Cast on 80 (88) stitches

Do desired length of K1, P1 ribbing.

Do 3-5 rows stockinette stitch, on last row before beginning chart place stitch markers you will work chart in between. The distance between the stitch markers will vary depending on the chart you are using. Try to center design on hat if working flat.

Work Chart

Finish desired length in stockinette stitch (For flat knitting end after a purl row) then do decrease rows:

Revolver Hat Pattern

Revolver Hat Pattern
This is another test pattern I need someone to submit a picture for. Eventually I will make a hat using this pattern for Randy which he insists must be in black and white. As I said before though I am in the middle of a baby boom in my family and am stuck in baby sweater land. However I still wanted to share this neat looking gun I charted. This hat is knit in the round but could easily be switched to back and forth. Remember whoever submits the first picture and allows me to use it on my blog should also include a link to their blog or site in the email so I can credit them for the picture. Thanks and happy knitting.

  • Worsted Weight Yarn in 2 colors (M) Main color (B) Gun Color
  • Size 8 circulars and/or dpns
  • 3 stitch markers (1 of 1 color 2 mark beginning/end of row and 2 of another to mark start end of where gun is knit)
  • Tapestry needle to weave in ends

To Make Hat:

Cast on 88 stitches and Join in round. Do desired length of K1, P1 ribbing.

Knit four rows on fifth row knit as follows

For the following rows it is understood that all stitches are knit because the project is in the round. The stitches listed in the rows below are only done between the two markers place in the previous row. You will use the main color to knit to and from the two markers placed in the previous row.

Cut yarn leaving long enough tail to weave through remaining stitches and secure. Weave in all ends. Happy Knitting!

Make one for yourself or a friend but please don't sell them unless 100% of profits go to charity. Please share the link and not the pattern itself. Due to the way I have written this pattern the image of the gun could be knit onto almost any garment simply by following the row instructions where you want them on that object. If you do this please understand that you cannot use the garment as your own pattern as I have charted this gun myself and because it is an image and not a stitch pattern it is copyrighted to me.

Calling all Fans, Test Knitters needed

My brain is crawling with ideas and I am coming up with schematics and charts for hats faster than I can knit the prototypes to share them with you. You can now test knit one of the patterns I have written. The hats I have available are listed below and will change as I develope new patterns and recieve completed pictures of hats. The first picture of a hat sent to me will be the one at the top of the page, all others will go into a slide show at the bottom. A thumbnail is included of the chart used for the hat so you aren't knitting on blind faith. Thanks so much!
